2. Project Management & Joinery Execution

This guide covers how Edge Home Solutions manages the full execution lifecycle of wardrobe, cabinetry, and kitchen projects from site survey to final handover.


1. The 12-Task Joinery Execution Pipeline

Every interior fitting project uses the standardized Custom Interior Fitting (Wardrobe / Kitchen / Cabinetry) template:

2. Launching a New Fitting Project

  1. Go to Projects → Project → + Add Project (https://erp.edgehomesolutions.co.ke/desk/project).
  2. Fill in project details:
    • Project Name: Format as [Location/Client] - [Fitting Type] (e.g., Kilimani Penthouse - Modular Kitchen & Master Wardrobes).
    • Company: Edge Home Solutions.
    • Customer: Select client name.
    • Project Type: Select Modular Kitchen, Built-in Wardrobes, or Full House Interior Joinery.
    • Project Template: Choose Custom Interior Fitting (Wardrobe / Kitchen / Cabinetry).
    • Expected Start Date: Scheduled survey date.
    • Estimated Costing (KES): Total project budget.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Result: ERPNext immediately generates all 12 tasks linked together with estimated durations.

3. Managing Tasks & Assigning Fitters

  1. In the Project, switch to the Tasks tab or Gantt view.
  2. Open a task (e.g., Task 5: Panel Precision Sizing & CNC Milling).
  3. Assign to the workshop lead carpenter or CNC technician using the Assigned To button.
  4. Record actual progress:
    • Status: Update from OpenWorkingCompleted.
    • Timesheets: Fitters can log workshop hours against the project to track exact labor costs.

4. Snagging & Final Handover Protocol

During Task 12: Joint Snag Inspection & Client Sign-off Handover:

  1. Lead installer and client walk through the installed units.
  2. Complete the quality checklist:
    • [ ] Soft-close hinges calibrated and closing smoothly without rubbing.
    • [ ] Drawer slides running flush with soft-closing dampening engaged.
    • [ ] Countertop joints sealed and silicone waterproofed.
    • [ ] Kickplates and filler scribes cleanly secured to walls and floor.
    • [ ] Protective films and sawdust cleaned.
  3. Client signs the Handover Acceptance Form.
  4. Mark Task 12 as Completed and set Project Status to Completed.
  5. Trigger Milestone 3 (10% Final Retention Invoice).
